A Study on the Fears of Crime among Foreigners Living in the Foreigner-Crowded Area

국내에 거주하는 외국인이 느끼는 범죄두려움은 중요한 사회적 문제로 부상하고 있다. 이전 연구들은 대부분 국내 시민들의 범죄두려움에 초점을 맞추어 왔으며, 외국인 거주자들의 관점에서의 범죄두려움에 대한 연구는 부족한 실정이다. 이에 이 논문은 대한민국에서 거주하는 외국인들이 어떠한 이유로 범죄에 대한 두려움을 느끼고 있는지를 다각도로 탐구하고자 한다. 이를 위해서는 외국인이 경험하는 범죄두려움의 원인과 그에 따른 영향을 체계적으로 분석하고, 적절한 예방 및 개선 방안을 모색할 필요가 있다. 분석결과 지역무질서와, 한국인갈등이 범죄두려움에 통계적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 기존의 범죄두려움의 관계를 다룬 연구결과들을 검토한 결과 상호 대립하는 결과들이 제시되고 있는 것을 발견하였고, 이러한 차이를 보이는 원인들이 무엇인지 파악하고자 하였다. 결론적으로 이 연구는 선행연구들에서 제시된 모델들을 바탕으로 다양한 측면에서 범죄두려움을 고려하였다는 점에 그 의의를 가진다. 따라서 이 연구를 통해 외국인과 국내 주민 간의 상호 이해를 증진시키는 데 기여하고, 정책 수립과 시민 교육에 유용한 정보를 제공할 것으로 기대한다.

The fear of crime felt by foreigners residing in Korea is emerging as an important social problem. Most of the previous studies have focused on the fear of crime among domestic citizens, and studies on the fear of crime from the perspective of foreign residents are insufficient. Therefore, this paper aims to explore from various angles why foreigners residing in Korea are afraid of crime. To this end, it is necessary to systematically analyze the causes and effects of crime fear experienced by foreigners, and seek appropriate prevention and improvement measures. As a result of the analysis, it was found that regional order and Korean conflict had a statistically significant effect on crime fear. As a result of reviewing the results of studies dealing with the relationship between crime fears, it was found that conflicting results were presented, and it was intended to understand what causes these differences. In conclusion, this study is significant in that it considers crime fears in various aspects based on the models presented in previous studies. Therefore, it is expected that this study will contribute to promoting mutual understanding between foreigners and domestic residents and provide useful information for policy establishment and civic education.
