Days of Being Wild: A legless Bird that became Don Juan

본 논문의 목적은 <아비정전>에 드러난 아비의 말과 행동을 근거로, 아비를여성 유혹자인 ‘동 쥐앙’의 위치에 놓고 그의 심리를 설명하기 위한 것이다. 아비를 동 쥐앙으로 해석하는 근거는 다음 두 가지이다. 하나는 어머니에게 고착되어있는 것으로 이것은 아비가 자신을 다리 없는 새라고 상상하는 것의 심리적 이유이기도 하다. 어머니에의 고착은 동 쥐앙 심리의 핵심적인 특성이다. 또 다른 하나는 여자들을 대하는 아비의 태도로 그는 여자들을 유혹한 후에 자신에게 매달리는 여자는 버리고 또 다른 여자를 찾아 나선다. 유혹과 버림은, 원초적인 아버지와 영웅적인 아버지를 자아 이상으로 삼는 동 쥐앙의 전형적인 모습이다. 아비는 자신을 다리 없는 새라고 생각하는데, 그 새는 처음부터 다리가 없었다기보다는 어머니라는 말뚝에 다리가 묶인 채 날려고 했기 때문에 다리가 뽑혀버린 것이다. 다리는 어머니라는 말뚝에 묶여 있지만 날개는 있기에 어디든 날아다닐 수는있다. 그러나 다리가 없기에 그는 어느 여자에게도 묶일 수는 없다. 반대로 어느여자도 아비를 잡을 수 없다. 그런 점에서 아비는 평생 어머니를 찾아 나선, 어머니에게 고착된 동 쥐앙으로 볼 수 있다. 여기서 아비가 그리워하는 어머니는 현실에서의 어머니가 아니고 영원히 상실된 대상으로서의 어머니이다. 영원히 상실된 어머니를 현실의 어머니에게 투사하는데, 처음에는 양어머니에게 투사하고 나중에는 생모에게 투사하지만 결국 그 환상이 깨어져 죽는다. 아비가 어머니에게묶여있다면 그로부터 유혹당한 수리진과 루루는 아비에게 묶여있다. 아비가 수리진과 루루를 유혹하는 과정을 보면 그는 동 쥐앙처럼 여자의 마음을 귀신같이 간파하고 있다. 그런 점에서 아비는 여자의 마음을 낚는 사랑의 낚시꾼이자 사랑의유혹자이며 사랑의 심리학자인 동 쥐앙이다. 동 쥐앙이 욕망하는 것은 여자가 아니라 유혹이며, 이런 유혹의 욕망은 모든 여자를 거느리는 전능한 아버지처럼 자신의 남근의 전능성을 실현하기 위한 것이다. 그래서 동 쥐앙은 자기 확신으로가득 찬 나르시시즘으로 무장되어 있다. 아비 역시 여자에 대해 오만하고 자기확신에 차 있으며 자기애적이다. 아비는 자신의 결정에 대해 결코 의심하지 않으며, 자책이나 후회, 갈등을 하지 않는다. 아비가 보이는 이러한 나르시시즘은 동쥐앙의 심리적 특성 중의 하나다.

The purpose of this paper is to explain Aafei’s psychology by comparing him in the position of a seducer of women to a Don Juan, based on his words and actions revealed in the film ‘Days of Being Wild.’ Aafei’s behaviors and psychology can be analyzed comparative to a classic Don Juan with regards to two rationales. The first one is that he is fixated on his mother. It is also the psychological reason why he imagines himself as a bird without legs. This fixation on his mother is the key characteristic he shares with Don Juan. The second rationale that can be compared is his attitude toward women. He seduces women and then abandons them even if they cling to him, then he leaves looking for another woman. The seduction and abandonment is a typical feature of Don Juan who has subconscious ego of a primal and a heroic father as his ideal role model. Aafei regards himself as a bird whose legs were pulled out because it tried to f ly w ith its l egs tied to a s take c alled h is m oth er. A lth ough h is l egs are tied to a stake, he can fly anywhere because he has wings. But he can not be tied to any other woman since his legs are tied to his mother. On the contrary, no woman can not catch Aafei. In this regard, Aafei can be seen as Don Juan who has been obsessed with his mother for life. The mother that Aafei misses here is not a m oth er i n reality, b ut a moth er a s an object t h at h as b een l ost forever. H e projects a mother as a lost object onto his mother in reality. He projects it onto his stepmother at first and projects it onto his birth mother later, but finally dies when his fantasy is broken. Meanwhile, Surichen and Lulu, seduced by him, are tied to him just like Aafei who is tied to his mother. It is well demonstrated in the process of his seduction of Surichen and Lulu that he sees through women’s desires. I n th is regard, Aafei i s similar to a D on Juan w ho is a p ick-up a rtist, a seducer of women, and understands women’s psychology. It is not women but chasing women itself that Don Juan desires. This desire for chasing women is to realize the omnipotence of his phallus, just like the omnipotent father who has all the women. That’s why Don Juan is armed with narcissism full of self-confidence. Aafei is also arrogant, self-confident and narcissistic about his relationships with women. He never doubts his decisions, never blames himself, and he never regrets or has conflicts. This narcissism that he shows is one of the psychological characteristics of Don Juan.
