What’s happened, happened: Repetition, Knowing and a fterwardsness in a Film <Tenet>

영화 <테넷>(the Tenet(2020)>은 자신의 정체성과 욕망에 대해 무지한 주도자가 자신이 누구인지를 각성하고 욕망에 눈을 뜨게 되는 무지에서 앎으로의 욕망의 연대기라 할 수 있다. 본 연구는 영화 속의 반복과 앎 그리고 사후성을 통해 텍스트를 독해하려고 했다. 주도자는 테넷으로부터 호명되어 작전을 수행하는데그는 처음에는 타자인 테넷의 욕망을 욕망하는 소외된 주체다. 테넷의 지령을 전달하는 프리야는 주도자의 무지를 이용하는 미래에 대해 안다고 생각하는 자이다. 그럼에도 주도자에 의해 죽음을 맞을 것이라는 사실을 알지 못한다. 사토르역시 안다고 생각하는 자에서 죽을 뻔했다가 살아 돌아온 캣에 의해 죽음을 맞는무지한 인물이 된다. 닐은 주도자에 대해 너무나도 잘 아는 인물이며 나아가 자신이 죽을 것임을 앎에도 불구하고 행동하는 인물이다. 주도자는 무지한 자에서자신이 테넷의 창시자라는 사실을 사후적으로 아는 자가 된다. 인버전은 등장인물들이 욕망하는 바를 성취하기 위해 반복을 통해 극을 이끌어나가는 무대 장치라고 할 수 있다. 아울러 인버전을 통한 반복 속에서 등장인물들의 인식과 욕망의 포지션이 변화한다. 주도자는 자신을 3번이나 구해준 미지의 인물이 닐이라는사실을 각성한 뒤에야 비로소 자신이 사후적으로 테넷의 창시자라는 사실을 인식하게 된다.

The movie Tenet(2020) is chronicle of desire from the ignorance to knowing as the Protagonist who is ignorant about his identity and desire realizes who he is and is awakened of desire. This study is intended to interpret texts through repetition, afterwardsness in the movie. The Protagonist is interpellated by Tenet to execute operation. At first, he is the subject of alienation that longs for the desire of Tenet, who is the other. Priya who delivers commands of Tenet is the one who thinks he knows the future when the ignorance of the Protagonist is used. Nevertheless, he does not know that he would be killed by the Protagonist. Sator is an ignorance character who faces death by Kat who comes back alive after almost being dead by a person who think he knows. Neil is a character that knows the Protagonist very well, and he acts even though he knows he would die. The Protagonist, who was an ignorant person at first, comes to know that he is the progenitor afterward. Inversion is a stage setting that leads the drama for characters to accomplish their desire through repetition. In addition, the recognition of characters and the position of desire are changed in the repetition through inversion. The Protagonist doesn’t recognize he is the progenitor of Tenet until he realizes that the unknown person who saved him three times is Neil.
