A Study of Children’s Play Songs Published in the Eorini (Children) Magazine

본 연구는 1923년 발행된 아동잡지 『어린이』에 수록된 유희동요를 집중적으로 살펴보았다. 또한 신문기사를 토대로 1920년 후반부터 성행하였던 〈율동유희강습회〉와 『어린이』 잡지의 연관성을 알아보았다. 본 연구에서는 현재까지 공개된 『어린이』 총 116개 호에 실린 동요 중 유희동요와 유희창가 총 6곡을 집중적으로 살펴보았다.『어린이』에 실린 유희동요는 율동유희 사진과 함께 실린 곡이 총 4곡이었고 해설을 실은 곡이 2곡이었는데 어린이들이 쉽게 따라 할 수 있고 재미를 느낄 수 있는 다양한 곡과 율동이 실려있었다. 다음으로 신문기사를 통해 『어린이』 수록유희동요와 그 당시 성행하였던 〈율동유희강습회〉의 연관성을 알아보았다. 유치원 교사를 대상으로 하는 〈율동유희강습회〉는 1928년부터 개최되어 1949년까지 열렸고 『어린이』 잡지에 수록된 유희동요 6곡 중 총 4곡의 유희동요 율동을 지은 ‘김영제’라는 인물이 여러 보육학교에서 근무한 이력이 있으며 〈율동유희강습회〉에서 가장 많이 강습한 강사라는 것을 알 수 있었다. 당시 신문기사를 토대로 1930년대에 율동유희교육이 얼마나 중시되었는지 알 수 있었고 『어린이』에 수록된 유희동요는 〈율동유희강습회〉에서 김영제를 통해 많은 유치원으로 전파되어 당시 유치원교육에도 영향을 미쳤을 것이라고 추측할 수 있었다. 끝으로 본 연구를 통해 1920~1930년대에 『어린이』의 사회적, 교육적 파급과 영향, 그 위상을 다시 한번 확인할 수 있는 기회가 되었다.

This study focuses on the children’s songs featured in the Eorini started publication in 1923. The significance of children’s play music was investigated by examining newspaper articles, focusing on Dance and Recreation Schools which were popular in the late 1920s, and examines the correlation between Eorini and the Dance and Recreation School. The research examined songs featured across 116 editions of the Eorini, pinpointing six children’s play songs and a play chang'ga. The findings were as follows: First, a total of six children’s play songs were published in the Eorini, including a play chang'ga. Four songs were accompanied with photos, and two songs had commentary. The music were interesting to children, while being easy to sing and follow. Second, the study examined the correlation between children’s play songs featured in the Eorini and the School. From 1928 to 1949, it offered courses tailored for kindergarten educators. The study found that Kim Young-jae, served as the primary contributor, writing dances for four out of the six songs in the Eorini. He was the most active trainer in the School, and worked in many nursery schools. Dance and play education in the 1930s was considered important based on newspaper articles at the time. The play songs in the Eorini were disseminated to kindergartens through the School, primarily by Kim Young-jae, influenced education in kindergartens. This study demonstrates the magazine’s stature, societal, educational impact, and influence in the 1920s and 1930s.
