본 연구는 2011∼2013년에 개봉한 사회문제를 다루는 일련의 영화들이 어떠한 서사적 공식, 캐릭터 설정 등을 공유하는지를 설명하고자 한다. 1980∼90년대사회문제를 다루는 한국영화들이 리얼리즘 양식을 바탕으로 비교적 관조적이고 성찰적인 태도를 견지했다면, 이 시기 영화는 이전과는 달리 보다 장르적인 양식들을 통해 사회문제에 대한 공분을 불러일으킨다. 그러한 방법은 인물을 순진무구한 피해자로 위치 짓고, 또한 윤리적으로 흠결 없는 인물로 만드는 것이다. 이는 되도록 많은 대중에게 소비되어야 하는 대중영화의 사명 앞에서는 만듦새를의미하는 서사의 통일성보다 중요한 것이 되어버렸다. 이러한 윤리적 올바름은부조리한 현실과 투쟁하는 영화 속 인물을 응원하는 관객의 죄책감을 덜어주어관객 자신도 어떤 올바른 일에 참여하고 있다는 기분이 들게 만드는 것이다. 이는 광우병 촛불시위로 대표되는 이명박 정권 시기에서 경험한 현실정치의 패배감을 영화적 응원 또는 공분으로 전환시켜버리고 봉합적인 해피엔딩을 통해 이전의 상실감을 보충하려는 움직임으로 해석할 수 있다.
This study deals with the strategy and consumption patterns of films dealing with social problem that were released in 2011∼2013. It is to analyze which narrative formula and character settings that how deal with social issues. And it would describe that as a sign of one aspect of Korean society at the time. While Korean films dealing with social problems in the 1980s and 1990s remained relatively introspective and reflective in the form of realism, films during this period create a indignation about social issues through more genre forms than ever before. First, This study have search at the history and characteristics of social problem films in the film genre study. Second, consider these characteristics in the context in which this genre was formed. Finally, this genre features Lee Myung-bak administration in time for the real politics of the sense of defeat for the compensation mechanism analysis. This translates despair and shame from the disappointment and frustration of practical politics into support and public offerings. And the film is to make up for the previous sense of loss through aseptic happy ending. This approach is to reflect on the current state of our society by examining the relationship between film and society.
