International co-production films had appeared since 2000 in Asian region and have been vitalizing since 2005. These international film co-productions are approached as a phenomenon in this paper, not as a series of films. This study started with some questions on the reason and characteristics of this phenomenon, that is, “Why have the proportions of international co-production films in Korean film production market increased?”and “What characteristics is this phenomenon?”This paper tries to investigate this specific way of the international film co-productions with systemic approach method from the contextual and historical perspective. The Korean society was structured capitalistic market system since 1990s. At this context neoliberal order has reorganized the Korean film industry. It is said lots of producers in Korea thought it has become increasingly difficult for national markets to support the cost of feature films production. Overseas markets are needed in order to sustain Korean film industry. Is the reason true?Analyzed result of this paper tells the reason is the interaction between the neo-liberal globalization order and long-time dream for Hollywood among lots of Korean producers, directors, and film-interested people. This paper analyzed some characteristics of neo-liberalism from Korean film industry which leads international co-productions. That is as follows;whether a film gets high return on investment or not is best important in the Korean film industry. Government announced they don’t interfere but just support the film industry. This policy made film production market compete freely for high return without limit, and made capital move into abroad freely for higher return. This study found the Hollywood dream push the film capital to go to Asia in place of the global market for getting maximum profit.
