제3자의 문제와 토막민(土幕民)

Third Party Problems and Tomagmin(土幕民) -Focusing on the philosophy of Ricoeur and Levinas

이 이 글의 목적은 제3자의 문제와 토막민을 연계하여 탐색하는 것이다. 역사와 문학으로 발견 가능한 토막민(土幕民)의 실체를 철학적 관점으로 재해석함으로써 새로운 시각으로 토막민을 이해하려는 시도이다. 이런 맥락에서 이 연구에서는 첫째, 일제 강점기의 토막민에 관한 역사적이고문학적인 탐색을 기획했다. 이 과정에서 리쾨르 철학을 통해 ‘토막민의 입장에서사유하기’와 토막민과 같은 ‘낯선 것이 되는 상상’의 필요성을 논의했다. 둘째, 레비나스의 철학에 기대어 토막민과 제3자와의 연계성을 탐구했다. 이 과정에서 토막민의 얼굴 너머의 그 무엇, 곧 윤리와 정의 문제와 직면했다. 이를 통해 도출할 수 있는 결론은 토막민을 향한 우리의 기억의 의무를 멈춰서는 안 된다는 것이다. 그들의 고난과 비극을 잊지 않고 기억해야 까닭은 토막민이곧 우리의 낯선 모습 그 자체이기 때문이다.

The purpose of this article is to explore the problems of the third party(parties) in connection with Tomagmin(土幕民). It is an attempt to understand Tomagmin from a new perspective by reinterpreting the reality of Tomagmin that can be found in history and literature from a philosophical perspective. In this context, this study first planned a historical and literary exploration of the Japanese colonial period. In this process, through Ricoeur’s philosophy, the necessity of “thinking from the perspective of Tomagmin” and “imagining to be strange” such as Tomagmin was discussed. Second, I explored the connection between Tomagmin and third parties relying on Levinas’ philosophy. In this process, I faced the issue of ethics and justice for Tomagmin beyond the faces of Tomagmin. The conclusion that can be drawn through this is that we should not stop our memory obligations for Tomagmin. The reason we should not forget their sufferings and tragedies is because they are the unfamiliar faces of us.
