이방인과 난민 문제를 바라보는 전통적 기독교 관점과 새로운 시선

Traditional Christian Perspectives and New Approaches to Issues of Foreigners and Refugees: From the Perspective of the Outsiders

필자는 최근 지구촌에서 벌어지는 전쟁 난민(우크라이나, 팔레스타인)과 전쟁고아를 포함해서, 이주노동자, 결혼이민자, 유학생, 다문화가정 자녀 등 이방인과 과부와 장애인, 독거 노인을 비롯한 소외계층 시민 등등을 ‘경계 밖의 무리’라는 관점에서 논의한다. 지구촌 시대 세계시민의 일원으로서 우리는 경계 밖의 무리를 어떤 눈으로 바라보아야 하는지가 중심 문제이다. 이런 맥락에서 필자는 먼저 경계 밖의 무리를 대하는 전통적 기독교의 관점을 살펴보고, 여기에서 핵심적인 환대의 윤리가 어떤 식으로 받아들여지고 있는지, 그 특징은 무엇인지를 드러낸다. 그리고 필자는 진정 이방인과 난민은 누구인가라는 물음에 대해 새로운 관점을 제시한다. 이를 위해 필자는 인사이더와 아웃사이더의 관점에서 성서를 다시 읽고, 이방인과 난민의 의미를 기독교철학의 관점에서 새롭게 해석해 낸다. 여기서 중심 물음은 이것이다. 경계 짓기의 주체는 누구인가? 그 경계의 안과 밖은 어떤 의미인가? 그래서 필자는 여기서 이방인과 난민을 바라보는 인식론적 전환, 다시 말해 인사이더가 아닌 아웃사이더의 시선을 주장한다. 이러한 논의들은 최종적으로 인간의 경계를 넘어 하나님의 경계 안으로 우리의 관점을 옮기는데 나름의 기여할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

The author aims to discuss various marginalized groups, including war refugees (from Ukraine and Palestine), war orphans, immigrants (including labor migrants, marriage immigrants, and international students), multicultural family members, widows, people with disabilities, and elderly individuals living alone. The perspective is to approach these groups as the “outsiders” beyond boundaries, considering the recent wars globally. In the era of a global village, as a part of global citizens, the author intends to explore how we should perceive these marginalized groups and discuss the view we should adopt towards them. In this process, the author will first narrow down the scope of the discussion to examine the traditional Christian perspective on dealing with the outsiders. From this standpoint, the author aims to reveal how the ethical principle of hospitality operates and its characteristics within this core position. Subsequently, the author intends to introduce a new perspective in response to the question of who truly qualifies as a foreigner or a refugee. In other words, the author will reexamine the Scriptures from the perspectives of outsiders and insiders, providing a fresh interpretation of the meaning of the “outsiders,” foreigners, and refugees. The central issue in this study is as follows: Who is the subject of boundary-making? What does the inside and outside of these boundaries signify? It is anticipated that the discussions above will ultimately contribute to shifting our gaze beyond human boundaries into the boundaries of God.
