The <CSI> series led the revival of American television dramas. The reason that this series was able to garner interest and popularity was because it was able to excellently combine the characteristics of various types of media, including cinema and digital media, using images and narration. In narration, it did not use the traditional linear storytelling format but used a multifaceted story frame that departed from the previous protagonist-centered format. This is an important reason that viewers of the new generation, accustomed to games and the Internet, lingered in front of the television. Nonetheless, the success of <CSI> is attributable to its presentation of new images. In our research we examined the particular characteristics of the images complementing the new narration type in <CSI Las Vegas>, focusing on the combination of various media - that is, the combined use of cinematic images and the application of digital images. We went on to explain the success of the series by analyzing these characteristics from a postmodern perspective.
