From 1927 to 1940, many movies were imported into Korea. Most of them were made in USA. brought into Korea via Japan. As a result, so many companies for film import and distribution were built. As it were, it was a golden time for film merchant in Korea. The film distributors worked mainly in seoul, the capital of the colony, but they need another film dealers in province. Local film distributors rented films from the merchant in Seoul, and made a tour for film screening, which was called sun-up. In short, the film distribution in 1920 ~30s of Korea has bipolar structure. In late 1930s, a golden time for film merchant went to its end. The government imposed legal controls on the import and screening of western film. Such policy was connected with a series of the support for japanese major film company. As a result, peolple of colony were deprived of their right to enjoy films which were not made in japan.
