Cityscape changes keeping pace with the times. But this doesn't mean only external changes. The landscape of city is being newly created with the sociocultural changes, and foregrounding the specific aspects of the times. From this point of view, this paper inquires the spectacular landscape of 1980s' Seoul and the collective dream implicated in it. As a case study, this paper considers a skyscraper named of “63 Building”. This building attracted public attention for it was the tallest building in Korea at that time, and attached an IMAX cinema which exhibited a brand-new cinematic technology. This shows how public desires were visualized in 1980s'. This paper draws attention to the respects that the 63 Building and its IMAX cinema were the formation of high technology of those days, and that they were the place of visual education teaching the rhythm of the times. The playing experience of this place differs from the closed experiences of other theme parks. It calls for the contextualization of the specific space-time of 1980s' Seoul. The vertical rising shape of the skyscraper and the horizontal expanding vision of IMAX screen embodied the public desire of advance and globalizaton as the spectacle of speed and sight. The main point is that this spectacle was manifested through the body experiences of viewers, especially visual experience. In that place, viewers sensuously acquired the image of the future. The visual experience from the 63 Building and IMAX cinema expanded into an aesthetic spectacle landscaping the slogan of “Beautiful Korea”. The aestheticized spectacle of Seoul praised the richness of 1980s'. It was an image of optimism which foresaw the future of globalizing Korea. However, there functions the dichotomous logic of visualization and invisualization. The landscape of the time constituted by the 63 Building and IMAX cinema implies the matter of politics.
