Parenting Experiences and Support Needs of Single Fathers with Children with Developmental Disabilities

연구목적 본 연구는 발달장애 자녀를 둔 한부모 아버지의 양육 경험과 그 의미를 살펴보고자 하였고, 한부모 아버지가 장애 자녀를 양육하는데 필요한 지원은 무엇인지를 이해하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구방법 본 연구는 발달장애 자녀를 양육하는 한부모 아버지 3명을 연구 참여자로 하여 개별 면담을 통해 자료를 수집하고 분석하였다. 연구결과 본 연구의 범주화 분석 결과, 한부모 아버지의 발달장애 자녀 양육의 경험은 ‘이혼과 장애 자녀로 인한 시련’, ‘일과 장애 자녀 양육으로 인한 생활의 이중고그’, 리 고 ‘작은 희망 속에서의 변화’로 나타났다. 이러한 경험과 함께 ‘장애 자녀를 둔 한부모 가족의 지원 요구’가 무엇인지를 제시하였다. 결론 한부모 아버지가 발달장애 자녀를 양육하면서 겪는 어려움을 최소화하고 자녀의 양육과 교육에서 긍정적인 성과를 경험할 수 있도록 하는 것이 중요하다. 따라서 한부모 아버지의 양육 경험에 대한 이해를 토대로 특수교육 영역에서 이들에 대한 적절한 지원이 제공되어야 한다.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the parenting experiences and meaning of single-parent fathers with children with developmental disabilities, and to understand what support single-parent fathers need to raise children with disabilities. Methods: This study collected and analyzed data through individual interviews with three single-parent fathers raising children with developmental disabilities in the K area, and the experience of fathers raising children with developmental disabilities through coding processes was themed. Results: Participants in the study experienced trial due to divorce and disability children, double distress in life due to work and raising children with disabilities, and change in small hope, and accordingly, requests for support from single-parent families with children with disabilities Conclusion: The significance of the study is to examine the support and role that should be provided in the field of special education so that single-parent fathers can minimize the difficulties they face in raising children with disabilities and experience positive results in their children's upbringing and education.
