토니 윌리엄스의 재즈 드럼 연주 특징 분석

Aspects of Characterize Tony Williams' Jazz Drumming

이 연구는 포스트 밥 시대를 대표하는 드러머 토니 윌리엄스의 재즈 드럼 연주 특징을 알아보기 위한연구이다. 이를 위해 먼저 포스트밥 시대 연주 특징을 살펴보고, 마일즈 데이비스 대표곡 So what을연주한 토니 윌리엄스와 지미콥의 연주를 비교 하여 토니 윌리엄스의 연주 특징을 도출하였다. 연주 비교 분석을 위해 마일즈 데이비스의 So what 곡의 지미 콥과 토니 윌리엄스 채보하였다. 다음으로 채보를 통해 알 수 없는 내용은 그렉 비조넷 인터뷰 자료를 통해 독창적인 연주법을 확인하였다. 분석결과 토니 윌리엄스는 하이헷 풋, 콤비네이션 주법을 통해 음악적 풍성한 공간감을 제공하고자 하였다. 또한, 블러쉬다 주법을 개발한 것을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통해 많은 드럼 연주자들이 보다 발전된연주력을 갖고, 청중들에게는 보다 질 높은 음악과 포괄적인 음악적 관점이 제공되기를 기원한다.

This study aims to identify the jazz drumming characteristics of Tony Williams, a drummer who represents the post-bop era. To this end, we first examined the characteristics of postbop era playing, and then compared Tony Williams' and Jimmy Cobb's performances of Miles Davis' representative song So what to derive Tony Williams' playing characteristics. To analyze the performance comparison, we transcribed Jimmy Cobb and Tony Williams' performance of Miles Davis' So what. Next, we analyzed Greg Bizonet's interviews to identify his original performance. The analysis revealed that Tony Williams uses hi-hat feet and combination articulations to create a sense of musical space. He also developed the blush method. We hope that this study will help many drummers to improve their performance and provide audiences with higher quality music and a more comprehensive musical perspective.
