본 논문은 명말청초 필기소설에 수록된 扶乩 관련 기록을 통해 부계가 그 속에서 어떻게 활용되고, 당시 사람들과 어떻게 소통했는지를 살펴봄으로써 명말청초 부계문화의 특징을 고찰하는 데 그 의의가 있다. 부계는 중국 고대 점복 방식의 하나로, 중국의 남조시대 紫姑神에서 출발해 송대에 와서 乩仙으로 변화했으며, 명말청초 문인들 사이에서 크게 유행했다. 부계는 T자[丁] 모양의 틀, 붓, 모래만 있으면 점을 칠 수 있다. 송대 이후 붓이 占具로 등장하면서 부계의 계선은 문자 빙의를 통해 언어적 표현력을 획득하게 되었고, 문인부계로서의 특징을 갖추게 되었다. 다시 말해 계선이 문자라는 매체를 손에 쥐게 됨으로써 시문으로 점괘를 표현하게 되었다. 이로부터 부계는 길흉화복을 춤으로만 표현했던 전대의 자고신에서 나아가 계선을 통해 당시 사회의 부조리를 비판하고 풍자할 수 있었다. 또한 계선이 남긴 점괘를 분석하고 풀이하는 과정에서 부계는 예언의 기능에서 하나의 놀이문화로 변화했다. 그 결과 문인 지식인들은 계선과의 정신적 교류를 통해 기분을 전환시키거나 정신적 스트레스를 풀 수 있었다.
This study aims to examine how Fu-Ji(扶乩) was used in Literary Sketches and how it communicated with people at the time through records related to Fu-Ji contained in Literary Sketches of the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. Through this, the purpose is to examine the characteristics of Fu-Ji culture in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. The Fu-Ji is one of the ancient Chinese fortune-telling methods. It started from Zigushen(紫姑神) during the Southern Dynasty in China, changed to “Jixian(乩仙)” during the Song Dynasty, and was very popular among Literati in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. A Fu-Ji can tell fortunes with only a T-shaped frame, brush, and sand. After the Song Dynasty, brush appeared as a Divination Tool, and Fu-Ji’s Jixian acquired linguistic expression through possessed by letter, which differed considerably from the existing Fu-Ji. In other words, the Jixian came to have the medium of letters in his hand, which led to the expression of fortune telling through poetry. From this, Fu-Ji was able to satirize the absurdity of the society at the time through Jixian’s poetry, and in the process of interpreting fortune telling, Fu-Ji was able to change from the function of fortune-telling to a form of play culture.
