맹자의 본성 이론에 기반한 지혜교육 방법론

The Methodology of Education for Wisdom based on Mencius’s Theory of Human Nature

목적 이 글은 맹자의 본성 이론에 기반하여 그가 말하고 있는 심성론을 지혜교육의 관점에서 바라보고 그것의 교육적 메시지를 탐구하는 것이다. 방법 이것은 문헌적 고찰을 통한 철학적 해석학의 탐구 방법이다. 그중에서 연구자는 리쾨르의 4단계 해석학 이론을 원용하였다. 구체적으로 말해서 그것은 텍스트와 객관적 거리두기 단계의 소격화, 텍스트의 내적 특성을 발견하는 단계의 설명, 텍스트의 의미발견 단계인 이해, 그리고 해석자 자신만의 지평확장 단계인 전유가 그것이다. 결과 연구자는 어리석음 ― 지혜의 패러다임을 설정하고 그 안에서 자원학의 도움을 받아 이론체계를 구축했다. 그 결과 지혜교육은 인간이 처하고 있는 어리석음에서 벗어나 지혜로움으로 나아가도록 도와주는 일련의 교육활동이다. 이를 달성하기 위한 지혜교육의 방법은 존심양성과 호연지기의 도움을 받아 이루어지는 구방심과 과욕이었다. 이것은 양지 ― 양능의 패러다임으로 집약할 수 있는데 이때 양지는 지혜를 판별해 내는 능력이고 양능은 그런 능력을 실천해 주는 활동이다. 결론 이러한 지혜교육의 세계는 오늘날 현대교육이 달성하지 못하는 삶의 기술을 가르쳐서 지혜로운 인간으로 살아가도록 도움을 준다. 따라서 지식편중교육을 비판적으로 바라보고 최소한의 지혜교육을 교육적으로 실시해야 하는 혜안이 필요한 시점에 우리 교육이 서 있다 하겠다.

Objectives Based on Mencius’s theory of human nature, this article looks at the theory of human nature he is talk-ing about from the perspective of education for wisdom and explores its educational message. Methods his is a method of philosophical inquiry through Ricoeur’s theory of interpretation. This theory is com-posed of four steps by distanciation, explanation, understanding, and appropriation. Results To this end, I established a paradigm of foolishness―wisdom and established a theoretical frame with the help by research of Chinese character. As a result, education for wisdom is a series of educational activities that help humans move away from the foolishness they are dealing with and toward wisdom. In addition, the method of education for wisdom to achieve this was qiúfàngxīn and guăyù with the help of cúnxīnyăngxìng and hàor-ánzhīqì. This can be summarized in the paradigm of liángzhī―liángnéng, where competence is the ability to dis-cern wisdom, and capability is the activity that puts that competence into practice. Conclusions This world of education for wisdom teaches life skills that cannot be achieved in modern education today to help people live as wise humans. Therefore, our education stands at a time when we need a wisdom to critically look at knowledge-centered education and provide minimal education for wisdom.
