Suggestions about creative English education contents in accordance with cognitive development of age

This paper explores creative English education content according to the cognitive development of age. Extensive studies have revealed that for the children aged from three to seven years old, English education utilizing various activities, chants, songs, storytelling, arts and crats, and games was most effective. On the other hand, children aged eight to eleven years old were found to have creativity-based English education to be most adequate. This is because creativity is at maximum level at this age range. For the children above twelve years old, discussion-based English education was said to be most appropriate. Keeping those in mind, the present study suggests creative English education contents in accordance with the language learners’ cognitive development based on age. It is always not too much to emphasize that English educators must make considerable efforts to understand the characteristics of the learners that they teach and carefully select the most proper teaching methods according to their age and cognitive development. Such consideration should also be applied for college-level learners in the EAP and/or ESP programs.
