Teaching English Business Presentation: A Role-Playing Approach

This study introduces a teaching method I use in my English business presentation class (hereafter, my class). It explores how a role-playing approach is used for teaching business speech to undergraduates and why it is a useful tool for teaching business presentation. It suggests the important aspect of familiarities with form, function and context of stakeholder communications in order for business language learners to communicating successfully. It supports the claim that creativity is central to success in business (communication). After embarking on the description of the topics discussed in my class, this study exemplifies the students’ ability to apply the analytical and/or argumentative procedures they learn in class and to solve problems they may encounter in their future workplace. It concludes with implications for pedagogy and future research.
