The purpose of this paper is to investigate Korean university students’ perception on what makes a good business English class. Korean colleges and universities offer various practical English courses to their students; however, how students really perceive the practicality in those courses is less known. In order to understand students’ perception on what makes a good business English class, a qualitative study based on students’ essays was conducted. From the analysis of 55 students’ short essays about students’ ideas and experiences on business English classes, 6 main perceptional areas of good business English classes are identified. Students perceive good business English classes by 1) class outcome, 2) class content, 3) teaching method, 4) class materials, 5) class communication, and 6) class environment. Based on the results of this study, more effective teaching plans and practical teaching materials are discussed to better meet students’ expectations on practical English courses like business English.
