종교인문학, 고향 찾기의 치유 가능성

Religious Humanities, The Healing Possibility of Finding Ἠλύσιον(Elysion)

이 논문은 종교의 위기를 인문 교양(인문학)의 위기로 해석하며 종교인문학(Religious Humanities)의 내용과 치유 가능성 세 가지를 역사, 철학, 문학의 영역에서 살펴보려는 것이다. 먼저 종교인문학의 내용은 고향 상실과 고향 찾기이다. 특히 플라톤 『국가』 10권의 ‘에르(Er) 신화’에 나오는 영혼의 여행을 통해 고향 찾기는 고전 인문학은 물론, 종교의 핵심이라는 것을 소개할 것이다. 이후 종교인문학의 치유 가능성 세 가지를 구체적으로 살펴본다. 먼저 역사의 치유 가능성은 재해석의 힘이며 철학의 치유 가능성은 비판 정신, 문학의 치유 가능성은 공감, 곧 시적 정의(poetic justice)와 카타르시스로 소개하고자 한다. 이후 결론으로 종교인문학의 과제를 제안할 것이다. 이것은 아주 단순한 동물적인 것과 또한 반대로 세련된 것, 두 가지이다.

This paper interprets the crisis of religion as a human crisis and attempts to examine the content and healing possibilities of Religious Humanities literature in the areas of History, Philosophy, and Literature. First, it will be argued that the core of Religious Humanities is the loss of Elysion and the search for Elysion. In particular, through the journey of the soul in ‘Er Myth’ in Volume 10 of Plato’s Πολιτεία, we will introduce that finding a Elysion is the core of religion as well as of the classical humanities. After that, we will examine in detail three possibilities for healing in Religious Humanities. First, the healing possibility of history is the power of reinterpretation, the healing possibility of philosophy is to be introduced as a critical spirit, and the healing possibility of literature is to be introduced as Empathy, that is, ‘Poetic Justice’ and Catharsis. In conclusion, I will propose the task of religious Human Literature. There are two things: the very simple animal and the sophisticated as opposed to the sophisticated one.
