A Study on enforcement methods and the difficulty reasons of difficult English domains based on the EPTA scores

The aims of this study is first to analyze the recent EPTA scores of Korean pilots and air controllers, second to find the reasons of most difficult English domains and to enforcement means of the difficult English domains. The method of this study is first to analyze the scores of EPTA test-takers for recent 3 years and second to draw the difficulty reasons for the most difficult English domains and the enforcement means of the difficult domains by means of the R-analyze survey from 90 Korean Pilots and Air Traffic Controllers. The result from this study revealed that the relatively high difficulties were examined in comprehension and interaction for Korean Pilots and Air Traffic Controllers based on EPTA scores. The difficulty characteristics of comprehension comes from pronunciation diversions among various nations and the difficulty characteristics of Interaction domain due to the lack of Plain English proficiency. The suggested methods of the enforcement for thecomprehension is the understanding of the several aviation situations with Live ATC and the enforcement for the interaction is the cultivating of knowledge of the Plain English for the abnormal aviation situations.
