Research on the Design of Research Methods for Disappearing Local Cultural and Artistic Resources

(Purpose) The purpose of this study is to design a research method for disappearing local cultural and artistic resources and develop a protocol for field research. (Design/methodology/approach) According to the purpose of this study, the research methods were divided into literature survey, survey, interview survey, field survey, and supplementary survey, and each research tool was determined. Each research method was designed to proceed in a systematic and complementary process, rather than proceeding only segmentally and step-by-step. (Findings) We broadly divided the types of resources into physical, human, and socio-cultural resources and attempted to investigate the current status of history/culture, geography, economy/industry, education/society/politics, and community. Historical resources can be divided into tangible and intangible, and culture can be categorized into folklore, festivals, and art. History/culture also includes religion. In the case of geographic status, it can be divided into natural landscapes, spaces, and facilities, and resources related to transportation can also be collected. The economic/industrial status includes major products and production facilities centered on local specialized industries, and also includes commercial districts. In the case of a community, human resources can be divided into local organizations and resident organizations. (Research implications or Originality) We developed a protocol consisting of 8 questions as a survey tool, verified its validity with a panel of 10 people, and collected opinions on modifications and supplements. As a result of the validity verification, validity was secured by securing the validity standard value for all eight questions. In addition to content validity, convergence, agreement, and stability were all secured. Then, by applying modifications and supplements, the protocol was completed by adding three questions each in the area of disappearing local cultural and artistic resources and other future-oriented areas.
