Osan city's regional economy has been in doldrums due to various reasons. Among them its lack of systematic and innovative development strategies are also to be blamed. The national economy as well as world economy is changing so rapidly that not only any country but also any region cannot survive the ever increasing competition if they stick to traditional industries. Hence regional economies should also try very hard to restructure their economic structures and move upward the industrial ladder toward more advanced and high-value added stage. In order for Osan city to survive and prosper under this fiercely competitive situation, it should have solid development strategies such as construction of Osan venture park and eco-industrial park, inducing knowledge-based industries into the region, active participation in the Gyung-Gi Province's “Mini Techno-park Collaboration Project”, promotion of logistics industry to exploit its locational advantages, development of high-tech industrial complex, and so on.
