The Mediating Effect of Collective Self-esteem on the Relationship between Parent Support and Job Satisfaction of Child Caregivers

Objective: The aim of this study is to confirm the mediating effect of collective self-esteem in the effect of parental support on job satisfaction of child caregivers. Methods: The subject of the study are 192 child caregivers who participated in the continuing education of child caregivers in Gwangju Metropolitan City in 2023. SPSS 27.0 Program was used for data analysis, and Model 4 of the Process macro analysis was performed to verify the mediating effect. Results: Collective self-esteem showed a partial mediating effect in the relationship between parental support and job satisfaction of child caregivers. This means that parental support may directly affect the job satisfaction of child caregivers, but indirectly through collective self-esteem. Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that in order to increase the job satisfaction of child caregivers, it is important to intervene to promote the collective self-esteem of child caregivers along with positive support from child parents.
