Objective: The present study aims to examine the effects of gender egalitarianism and work-family equity on fertility intentions. Methods: Data were collected by an online survey. The sample consists of 242 adults who have been married for less than 5 years, have no children, and both spouses are employed and living together. The independent variables were gender egalitarianism and work-family Equity. The dependent variable was fertility intentions. Each model was analyzed using SPSS 26.0. Results: Subjective equity in household work was the only variable that influenced fertility intentions. Conclusions: The study reveals that couple’s subjective inequity in household work reduce their fertility intention. The study suggests that newly married couples need to recognize various roles within the family, not only household work, and need to negotiate the roles with spouses for an equal and equitable married life. This will also have a positive effect on the couple’s fertility intentions.
