Objective: This study examines the processes linking device use and executive function difficulties in 3rd grade elementary school students, focusing on the sequential mediation role of anxiety depression and attention problems. Methods: The study sample was 1389 elementary school third graders (boys: 702(50.5%), girls: 687(49.5%), who had participated in the tenth wave of the Panel Study on Korean Children (PSKC). The survey data for the mediating effect between variables were analyzed using SPSS Process Macro Model 6. Results: First, device use had a significant direct effect on executive function difficulties of children. Second, device use had an indirect effect on delinquency of school dropouts through impulsivity. Third, the indirect path linking parental abuse and executive function difficulties of children through anxiety depression and attention problems was significant, and the sequential mediational model was supported. Conclusions: Based on the findings of this study implications on the case conceptualization and intervention strategy with a focus on the executive function difficulties of children and future research are discussed.
