The Influence of Support Services for Multicultural Adolescents on School Adjustment and the Moderated Mediation Effect of Bicultural Attitude by Social Support

Objective: This study aims to examine the influence of support services for multicultural adolescents on school adjustment and the moderated mediation effect of bicultural attitude by social support. Methods: To this end, using data from the 1st year survey of the 2nd Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study, Models 4 and 7 of the Macro process method were utilized to analyze the direct, mediation, and moderated mediation effects. Results: First, support services for multicultural adolescents positively and significantly influenced school adjustment. Second, results showed a full mediation effect of multicultural adolescents’ bicultural attitude on the influence of support services on school adjustment. Third, multicultural adolescents’ social support moderated the mediation effect. Conclusions: Diverse ways to promote school adjustment among multicultural adolescents are discussed based on the findings of this study.
