Objective: This study aims to examine the relationship between parents' psychological control, smartphone dependence, difficulty performing functions, and academic delay behavior perceived by adolescents. Methods: This study used self-report questionnaires from 324 adolescents. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0. Results: First, parental psychological control did not significantly affect adolescents' academic delay behavior. Second, in the relationship between parental psychological control and adolescents' academic delay behavior, smartphone dependence played a mediating role. Third, in the relationship between parental psychological control and adolescents' academic delay behavior, difficulties in the execution function played a mediating role. Fourth, parental psychological control affected adolescents' academic delay behavior by sequentially mediating adolescents' dependence on smartphones and difficulties in execution functions. Conclusions: This study aims to promote a more integrated understanding of parents' psychological control and to confirm the influence of smartphone overdependence and difficulty in execution as factors that degrade academic delay behavior.
