Optimality Approach to Generation and Reconstruction of Antecedent Contained VP-Deletion

People have verbal interactions with their acquaintance. While interacting, they could use Antecedent Contained VP-Deletions(AC pro-verbs) at any time. This research studies generation and reconstruction of the AC pro-verbs. The researcher admits that speakers and listeners recognize together the AC pro-verbs at Surface Structure(SS) for generation and Logical Form(LF) for reconstruction. The speakers and listeners could share the process of the generation and reconstruction. The researcher views the sharing in the perspective of Optimality Theory. The theory is connected with evaluation of constraints’ ranking for selecting optimal candidates. At SS, there are four constraints: EXTRA_MOVE(RECOV), LATE_MERG(QR_RECOV), SUBJACENCY (1UP_1CONST) and *TRACE; at LF, also four constrains: QUAN_RAISING, AGREEMENT, *SCOPE_AMBIGUITY and PARALLELISM. The generation and reconstruction of AC pro-verbs could be general phenomena for the users of other languages. But, in other languages, the constraints could show different rankings. Therefore scholars should keep studying the related linguistic fields.
