Considering about a foreign language learning, vocabulary acquisition is a vital part of it. Because vocabulary can be seen as the cornerstone of any languages, therefore the degree of vocabulary reserve directly determines the extent to which learners master a language. So far there are two ways mainly used to improve the efficiency of vocabulary acquisition, one is to apply objective factors; the other is to apply subjective factors. Compare with objective factors, subjective factors are more malleable and controllable, therefore it is more valuable to carry out research on it. However, among the many subjective factors, their effectiveness and degree of action are not the same. Therefore, this paper attempts to compare and analyze two important subjective factors-interests and goals, so that to compare their impacts on vocabulary acquisition. Finally, it explored that both two factors have important effects for vocabulary learning; target-driven is more effective than interest-driven. Therefore, the most efficient way of helping learners master the vocabulary acquisition and to get the best results is to combine the two factors reasonably.
