오만과 편견 : 변화된 시대 그리고 변화된 재현

Three Film Adaptations of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice

There are a lot of film adaptations of Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Robert Leonard's black and white movie was the first theatrical release which was made in 1940. This classical movie of Leonard's succeeds in representing romantic comedy on Austen's work in America. Leonard emphasizes on British egalitarianism and family unity in times of crisis. But there are many differences from the original text. It concentrates on US-British relations that are necessarily less overt. Next, the most famous one of them is Simon Langton's TV drama series, which was made by BBC in 1995. With the good casting and its fidelity of adaptation, this drama catches the rich vision of the classical story successfully. The most recent adaptation, made by Joe Wright in 2005, deserves a praise because of its creative efforts to modernize the fictional world of Austen's and to realize British realism.
