L2 어휘 습득 시 일어나는 인지작용에 관한 연구

A Study on what happens cognitively in L2 vocabulary process

This study is aimed to suggest a model on the cognitive process in L2 vocabulary acquisition and to find where the learners usually have the most difficulties and how they try to solve them. For this aim, five volunteer students were investigated with a picture story book. Based on Levelt's, and Brown and Payne's models, this model shows one different point from theirs. In the process, English learning Korean students tried to translate each English word into Korean language first - which is not necessary step for L1 vocabulary - and then to grasp the whole meaning of the sentence with other informations that made the meaning clearly. The learners made many mistakes and errors in orthographic forms, and semantic and syntactic informations. The subjects tried to solve these errors using contexts the most and morphological informations next. And I want to mention that this study was done as a pilot study for more formal study later based on richer data.
