대학 교양 교육으로서 최승자 시 읽기

Reading Choi Seung-ja’s Poetry as University Liberal Arts Education: Focusing on the Case of University’s <Reading poetry>

이 논문은 대학 교양교육에서 명저 읽기 독서수업을 진행할 때 한국의 시 텍스트를 교육한 사례를연구한 것이다. 독서 목록을 만들 때 이상적이고 완결된 목록을 제시하는 일은 불가능에 가까울 것이다. 본 논문에서는 생명이 경시되는 현 세태, 대학의 교양 교육 시간에 활용할 시 목록에 최승자의 시가자리해야 할 것임을 제안한다. 청년의 우울증이 증가해 가는 현 세태에 최승자의 시에서 죽음에 대해사유함이 오히려 생에 대한 희망과 삶에 대한 의지로 작동하는 저항성을 줄 수 있다는 것에 주목하였기때문이다. 최승자 시에서 죽음은 우리 인간에게 주어진 비극이지만 이 비극을 대하는 태도가 어떠해야 극복가능한 것인지를 알려 준다. 이 시적 화자의 태도는 반복되며 순환되어 단단해지고 있는데 학습자들은시적 화자의 태도를 낭독하면서 죽음에 맞설 수 있는 저항의지를 학습한다. 본고에서는 코로나 이후에죽음과 우울의 환경 속에서 살아가는 학습자들의 인성 교육과 시 독서의 의의를 최승자 시 학습에서확인할 수 있었다. 학습자들은 최승자의 시를 통해 죽음이 단정되어 있는 유한한 삶에서 죽음을 극복하는방법을 발견하게 된다. 최승자의 시 읽기를 통해 획득한 저항의지와 현실 극복의 효과는 학습자가쓴 ‘시평 쓰기’에서 확인된다. 이에 본고는 최승자의 시가 시 교육에서 매우 효율적인 텍스트로 기능할수 있음을 밝혀 보았다.

This paper studies the case of teaching Korean poetry texts when conducting masterful reading and reading classes inuniversity liberal arts education. It would be near impossible to present an ideal and complete list when creating a readinglist for such a course. However, in this paper, it is suggested that Choi Seung-ja's poetry should be placed on any listthat deals with those times in life when life itself is neglected, as well as used in liberal arts education classes at universities. In our current age, which is seeing an increase in depression among young people, this paper argues that the theme ofdeath as seen in Choi Seung-ja's poem can actually give hope to its readers, and instill in them a level of resistance todeath that will manifest as a will to life. In Choi Seung-ja's poem, death is a tragedy given to us humans, but it tells us how to deal with this tragedy so thatwe can overcome death. The attitude of the poetic persona is repeated and circulated and strengthened, and readers canadopt the courage needed to stand up to death by reading about the attitude of the poetic persona. In this paper, the significanceof character education and poetry reading by learners living in an environment of death after COVID-19, can be confirmedin Choi Seung-ja's poetry learning. Learners find a way to overcome death in a finite life where death is a certainty. Thisprocess was confirmed in the ‘Writing Poetry Review’, which was written during the process of learning Choi Seung-ja'spoetry. Thus, this paper revealed that Choi Seung-ja's poetry can function as a very efficient text in poetry education.
