중급 수준의 외국인 유학생을 위한 <교양한국어> 교육 자료 개발 기초 연구

A Study on the Development of the Educational Materials of the <General Korean Language> for International Undergraduate Students inan Intermediate Level of the Korean Language

본 연구는 중급 수준의 한국어 숙달도를 보유한 외국인 유학생 대상 한국어 교육 자료 개발을 위한기초 연구로서, 국내 대학에서 수학 중인 중급 수준의 유학생 306명을 대상으로 요구 조사를 진행하였다. 그 결과, 대부분의 학습자가 중급 수준에 맞는 교재 개발의 필요성에 대해 인식하고 있었다. 선호하는교육 자료의 형태를 조사한 결과 전자책에 대한 선호가 높게 나타나기는 하였으나, 종이책에 대한요구도 여전히 실재하였다. 또한 교육 자료에 포함되기를 원하는 미디어 유형으로는 영화나 드라마,SNS, 신문 기사 등이 폭넓게 나타났다. 그리고 학습하기를 희망하는 주제를 조사한 결과, 취미, 성격,학교생활과 같은 중급 수준에서 요구되는 전형적인 일상적인 맥락을 포함해 학문 맥락에서 반드시익혀야 하는 학문적·사회적·전문적 주제에 대한 요구도 높게 나타났다. 한편, 학습자들은 어휘와문법을 위주로 한 언어 지식과 말하기 기능에 대한 높은 요구를 보였으며, 특정 기능에 특화된 교육자료보다는 언어 지식 및 말하기를 위주로 하되 듣기, 읽기, 쓰기 기능도 통합적으로 학습하기를 원하고있었다. 이에 본 연구에서는 먼저 다양한 주제와 미디어 유형을 포괄할 수 있는 교육 자료를 개발하기 위해종이책과 전자책의 교육적 가치를 최대화할 수 있는 교육 자료 개발 방안을 제안하고자 하였다. 또한의사소통 능력 및 학문적 과제 수행 능력을 두루 배양해야 하는 학습자의 특성을 고려해 언어 지식과언어 기능을 균형 있게 발달시킬 수 있는 통합 교재로의 개발 방안을 제안하였다.

This is a basic study to develop the educational materials for general Korean language learningfor international undergraduatestudents in the intermediate level. It aims to survey the needs of learners and thereby establish some developmental directions. To achieve this, Iconducted a survey with 306 international students at A University. The results showed that many learnersrecognized the necessity of textbook development, and that although there was a high preference for e-books, ademand forpaper books still existed. Regarding preferred media types, demands were observed not only for familiar media such asmovies, dramas and social media, but also for other types of media like newspaper articles and the news in general. Regardingthe topics demanded, they included daily life, hobbies, personalities, travel, and social and academic subjects. As for thedesired functions to be enhanced, there were high demands for speaking, vocabulary, and grammar, and the balanced demandsfor listening, reading, and writing. Accordingly, this study proposed that educational materials should be composed in sucha way that e-books and paper books coexist, and that the materials should be developed by maximizing the educationalvalue of each. Furthermore, this study suggested that a comprehensive textbook that develops all language functions evenlywould be more suitable than educational materials specialized in one function, given the characteristics of learners who needto not only expand their learning experiences with the use of various media, but to also cultivate their communication skillsand academic task performance abilities.
