고령 발달장애인 부모의 돌봄 부담에 영향을 미치는 요인과 돌봄 대책에 대한 부모 요구

The Factors Influencing Care Burden on Parents of Elderly Developmental Disabilities and Parental Demands for Care Strategies

본 연구는 고령 발달장애인을 자녀로 둔 부모의 돌봄 부담에 영향을 미치는 요인을 도출하고 돌봄 대책에 대한 노부모의 인식을 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 혼합연구방법(Mixed method design)을 활용하였다. 양적연구는 ｢2021년 발달장애인 일과 삶의 실태 조사｣를 활용하여 40세 이상 발달장애인858가구를 대상으로 분석하였으며, 자료처리는 SPSS 25.0 프로그램을 사용해 빈도분석, 상관관계분석, 위계적 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 질적연구는 40세 이상 고령 발달장애인 부모 5명을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 고령 발달장애인 개인 특성(당사자 건강상태, 의사소통능력, 일상생활수행능력), 가족 특성(보호자 건강상태, 보호자 취업상태), 사회참여 및 활동 특성(대인관계), 직업 관련 특성(당사자 취업상태, 직업 필요성 인식), 미래계획수립 특성(재정적, 주거, 법적)에 따라 돌봄 부담 정도에 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 고령 발달장애인의 성별, 혼인상태, 당사자 건강상태, 일상생활수행능력, 보호자 건강상태, 당사자 취업상태, 직업 필요성 인식은 고령발달장애인 부모의 돌봄 부담에 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 고령 발달장애인 부모의 돌봄 대책에 대한인식은 고령 발달장애인을 둔 부모의 자녀 돌봄 부담, 부모 사후 안전한 자녀 삶을 위한 지원 요구, 고령 발달장애인의 안정된 노후를 위한 준비로 나타났다. 이를 바탕으로 고령 발달장애인 부모의돌봄 부담 경감과 고령화 지원 대책을 위한 정책 및 현장에 시사점을 제언하였다.

This study aimed to identify factors influencing the care burden of parents of elderly individuals with developmental disabilities and to explore parents' perceptions of care strategies. A mixed-method design was employed, integrating both quantitative research, which analyzed 858 households with individuals aged 40 and above with developmental disabilities, using data from the '2021 Survey on the Daily Lives of Individuals with Developmental Disabilities.' Data processing was conducted using SPSS 25.0 and included frequency analysis, mean analysis, correlation analysis, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis. Qualitative research involved in-depth interviews with five parents of elderly individuals with developmental disabilities aged 40 and above. The results are following. First, the level of care burden experienced by parents significantly varied based on the personal characteristics of elderly individuals with developmental disabilities, including their health status, communication ability, and activities of daily living. Family characteristics, such as the health status of the caregiver and their employment status, social participation and activity-related characteristics, occupational factors, and future planning characteristics, all contributed to the significant differences in the care burden experienced by parents. Second, factors such as the gender, marital status, health status, daily living skills, caregiver's health status, employment status, and the perception of job necessity of elderly individuals with developmental disabilities had an impact on the care burden of parents. Third, The perceptions regarding caregiving strategies for parents of elderly individuals with developmental disabilities include 'Care Burden of Parents with Elderly Individuals with Developmental Disabilities', 'Demand for Posthumous Support to Ensure the Secure Life of Offspring', and 'Preparation for the Stable Aging of Elderly Individuals with Developmental Disabilities'. Based on these findings, recommendations are provided for alleviating the caregiving burden on parents of elderly individuals with developmental disabilities and suggesting policy and practical implications for aging support initiatives in both policy and field contexts.
