본 연구는 金庸의 무협소설에 묘사된 서사 구조 가운데 復讐를 테마로 한 서사의 유형과 운용, 그리고 이를 통해 표현된 주제의식을 분석한 것이다. 金庸의 무협소설에서 복수를 테마로 한 서사는 전체 소설의 이야기를 주도하는 사례도 있긴 하지만, 다른 유형의 서사와 복합적으로 운용되며 소설의 갈등과 긴장을 조성하는 사례도 적지 않았다. 물론 각 유형의 복수 서사는 단편적인 하나의 성격으로만 진행되는 게 아니었고, 보물이나 무공비급 쟁탈, 혹은 애정 관계 등의 서사와 서로 인과관계를 형성하며 묘사되고 있었다. 金庸은 복수가 진행되는 과정에서 발생할 수 있는 무고한 인명의 살상을 경계하였고, 나아가 관용과 포용의 입장으로 복수 서사의 비극성을 극복하고자 하였다.
This study is to analyze types of revenge narration and subject consciousness in martial art novels focusing on revenge narration described in Jin Yong’s martial art novels. In Jin Yong’s martial art novels, narration related in revenge plays a key role in leading narration of novels. However it was operated as subordinate narration and there were many cases in which it promoted struggle and tension of a novel. Revenge narration in each type is not composed of a single character, but is described as having a delicate correlation with narration of treasure, contest of best martial art book and love affairs. Jin Yong was on guard to avoid killing innocent people through revenge narration. He overcame a tragedy of revenge narration with stance of tolerance and reconciliation and expressed recovery of personality.
