박일송은 원주 지역의 문학장이 형성되는 데에 주요한 역할을 한 인물이다. 그의 활동은 문총 원주지부, 원주문인협회 등을 견인하는 동력으로 기능하였기에 해당 지역문단의 1세대로 기록된다. 그럼에도 불구하고 그의 문학 세계에 대한 정치한 비평 작업이나 학술적 논구는 전문하다시피 한 실정이다. 박일송 시 세계는 단행본만 따지더라도 350권에 이른다. 이 글에서는 전기 시 세계를 대변하는 『주마간산』·『목련화』, 후기 시세계를 대변하는 『시신의 목가』·『방랑시인』·『봉명서원』·『소크라테스의 노래』·『신작 방랑시인』 등을 선별하여 주요 경향을 살폈다. 그가 남긴 다양한 이력은 말 그대로 ‘기인’의 행적을 증거한다. 기이하고도 다채로운 삶은 역설적으로 박일송 문학의 근본적 한계를 지시하기도 한다. 정전의 위상은 방대한 정량이나 화려한 포즈와는 무관하기 때문이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 1960∼1970년대 박일송 문학은 한국문학의 주류 경향을 구성했다는 실정적 의미를 지닌다. 당대 발간된 선집류 도서들은 박일송 문학이 구현한 문학적 성가를 반증하는 근거이다. 다양한 장르 중에서도 박일송 문학은 단형 서정의 세계에서 그 개성과 특장이 두드러진다. 박일송 시 세계는 자연의 감각과 인생의 의미를 전통적 언어 미학에 결합시키고 있다. 나아가 생애 내내 삶의 문학, 일상적 에크리튀르를 실천했다는 점에서 문학의 본령을 체현한 사례라 할 만하다. 이는 시학의 지평을 재구하는 참조 사항일 뿐만 아니라 지역 문학사적 의미를 확장하는 기제라는 점에서 주목되어야 한다.

Nonetheless, he has specialized in political criticism and academic discussions on his literary world. The world of Park Il-song's poems reaches 350 volumes, even if only books are counted. In this article, Jumagansan·Moglyeonhwa, which represent the world of poetry in the early period, and Ssin-ui mogga·Banglangsiin·Bongmyeongseowon·Song of Socrates·New Banglangsiin, which represent the world of later poetry, etc. were selected to examine the main trends. The various histories he left behind literally testify to the actions of a 'Wack'. A bizarre and colorful life paradoxically indicates the fundamental limits of Park Il-song's literature. This is because the status of canon has nothing to do with its massive volume or splendid appearance. Nevertheless, Park Il-song's literature in the 1960s and 1970s has a positive meaning that it constituted the mainstream trend of Korean literature. Collections of books published at the time are the basis for disproving the literary achievement embodied by Park Il-song's literature. Among various genres, Park Il-song's literature stands out for its individuality and characteristics in the short-form lyric world. Park Il-song's poetic world combines the sense of nature and the meaning of life with traditional language aesthetics. Furthermore, in that he practiced the literature of life and everyday writing throughout his life, it can be said to be a case of embodying the true spirit of literature. It should be noted that this is not only a reference to reconstruct the horizon of poetics, but also a mechanism to expand the meaning of local literary history.
