退溪學派의 陶山書院 關聯 詩 硏究

A Study on the Poetry of Toegye’s scholastic lineage on related Dosanseowon(陶山書院)

퇴계는 실천 위주의 학문에 전념하였을 뿐만 아니라, 爲己之學의 학문 자세를 지향하였다. 퇴계학파 문인들은 퇴계의 실천적 학문에 대해 언급함으로써 萬代에 빛낼 師表로 스승의 위상을 정립하였으며, 그의 가르침을 계승하려는 의지를 표명하였다. 간재 이덕홍은 老儒의 情曲으로 제자들의 학구열을 북돋아준 퇴계의 학덕의 깊이를 몸소 체험하고 이를 기록하였다. 또한 간재는 산수 체험이 학문 생활의 연장선상에 있음을 나타내기도 하였다. 월천 조목은 퇴계의 학문정신을 계승하는 것이 군자의 學德을 보전하는 것임을 강조하였다. 퇴계학파 문인들은 스승이 남긴 학문이 제자들로 하여금 스스로를 더욱 분발할 수 있고 계도할 수 있음을 시화하였다. 그들은 자신의 詩作을 통해 스승의 학문이 聖學으로 스스로를 연마한 데서 비롯되었음을 보여줄 뿐만 아니라, 퇴계에게 배운 학문의 精髓가 길이 후대인들이 계승되기를 바라는 마음을 표출하였다. 퇴계의 尙古的정신을 尊崇한 그들은 詩作을 통해 스승의 위상을 정립하고 스승의 가르침을 전수하는 일이 중요함을 일깨웠다. 의인화된 매화 및 知音이상의 인격을 지닌 매화를 시적 대상으로 한 퇴계의 매화시에서는 매화를 소중히 여기는 퇴계의 마음을 읽을 수 있다. 스승의 매화시에 차운한 송암 권호문은 평소 퇴계의 매화시를 음미하며 스승의 시정신을 계승하였는데, 매화가 지닌 雅趣를 感興의 시어와 脫俗의 감흥으로 보여준 것이 그러한 예이다. 매화시를 지은 백담 구봉령의 퇴계의 개결한 마음을 天上仙으로 형상화하였다.

Not only did Toegye(退溪) focus on academics for practice, but he also improved his life by studying his mind. His disciples were impressed with the teacher’s life and learning, and indicated that the teacher was the scholar’s eternal example. Ganjae(艮齋) experienced the personality and virtues of Toegye(退溪) and recorded the academic appearance of Toegye(退溪). The reason is that I was moved by Toegye(退溪)’s mind that led the disciples to the world of correct learning. Ganjae(艮齋) described that contemplating objects in the space of nature is connected to academic life. Wolcheon(月川) described that he can preserve the virtue of a good scholar by inheriting the academic spirit of Toegye(退溪). Toegye(退溪)’s disciples thought they could improve themselves by studying great teacher’s studies and teaching them. They found that the core of the discipline taught by Toegye(退溪) was cultivation for self-reflection, and they worked hard to study and practice these cores well. In their poems, they expressed the inspiration from the teachings of the great teacher, and expressed that they also wanted to live like the great teacher. They hoped that the academics taught by Toegye(退溪) would be succeeded to later generations, and this was reflected in their poems. The scholar who emphasized the succession of wisdom was Songam(松巖), and in his poem Songam(松巖) expressed respect for Toegye(退溪)’s spirit. Baekdam(栢潭) also expressed respect for the teacher by comparing it to an ideal being.
