언어네트워크 분석을 활용한 제주 지역화 교과서의 ‘해녀’ 내용 분석과 시사점

Content Analysis and Implications for Haenyeo in Jeju Localization Textbooks Using Linguistic Network Analysis

이 연구는 제주 지역 교과서에 재현된 ‘해녀’ 내용을 언어네트워크 분석 방법을 활용하여 검토한 후, 그 시사점을 도출하고자 한 것이다. 분석 대상 텍스트로는 제주시와 제주시 교육청에서 초등학교 학생들을 대상으로제작하여 배포한 지역화 교과서이며, 이들 지역화 교과서의 ‘해녀’ 관련 텍스트를 추출하여 언어네트워크 분석을수행하였다. 분석 결과, 제주 지역화 교과서에는 그동안 숨겨진 비공식적 교육과정을 통해 전수되어 왔던 제주해녀의 토착지식과 가치 및 태도를 공식적인 교육과정으로 끌고 온 점에서 그 의의가 있다. 그러나 제주 지역 교과서에서는 학생들이 토착지식으로부터 배워야 할 지속가능한 미래의 가치, 즉 제주해녀문화의 지속가능한 생활양식과 자유주의적 공동체주의는 확인할 수는 없었다. 따라서 추후 제주 지역 교과서는 해녀의 지속가능한 생활양식과 자유주의적 공동체 시민성을 더 보완하여 공식적인 교육과정을 통해 학생들에게 그 가치를 전수할 필요가있다. 뿐만 아니라 이러한 제주 지역화 교과서에 자세하게 재현된 해녀 문화의 가치는 ‘해녀’라는 단어 정도만 언급하는 중등 지리교과서에 적극적으로 수용될 필요성이 있다.

The objective of the present research is to analyse the portrayal of ‘Haenyeo’ in local textbooks in Jeju by employing the semantic network analysis approach and derive meaningful conclusions. The analysed texts were specific textbooks created and delivered to elementary school pupils by Jeju City and the Jeju City Office of Education. The texts that focused on ‘Haenyeo’ in these local textbooks were extracted and then analysed using semantic network analysis. The investigation demonstrated the significance of Jeju local textbooks in incorporating indigenous knowledge, values, and attitudes of Jeju haenyeo into the formal curriculum. Previously, the informal curriculum concealed and transmitted these aspects. However, the Jeju local textbooks failed to recognise the sustainable lifestyle and liberal communitarianism of the Jeju Haenyeo culture, which are important principles for kids to acquire in order to promote a sustainable future. Hence, it is imperative that future Jeju local textbooks enhance and reinforce the sustainable lifestyle and liberal communitarian citizenship of the Haenyeo culture and effectively impart these principles to pupils through the formal curriculum. Moreover, the secondary geography textbooks, which merely mention the term ‘haenyeo’ briefly, should actively adopt the principles of haenyeo culture as outlined in these Jeju local textbooks.
