Study on the Application Scenarios of College Foreign Language Teaching in Educational Metaverse: Construction, Challenges and Prospects

Various industries have actively participated in the rapid development of the Metaverse, and the educational Metaverse has also drawn great public attention. From the perspective of college foreign language teaching, this paper explores the construction of college foreign language application scenarios in the educational Metaverse, simulates the four learning spaces required by foreign language teaching, and expounds on t he practical value of t his simulation process. However, t here a re challenges such a s technical support, recognition, the degree of freedom, capital coercion, and ethics in building a college foreign language teaching scene in the educational Metaverse. Therefore, the study proposes three leading suggestions that it is essential to support and continue the underlying technology from the bottom to the top, to make a reasonable layout and clarify the objectives and contents of foreign language teaching, and formulate relevant norms and guidelines to guide the establishment of correct values. In the development of both opportunities and challenges, we should always be ready to seize the opportunities and meet the challenges to promote the development of college foreign language education and teaching and to create a new environment of foreign language education in the information age.
