A Study on the Elderhostel For the Development of Senior Leisure Program in Korea: A Basic Study on New Theoretical Model and Supporting Program of Senior Leisure Program

This study was to suggest a theoretical model to establish a new senior's leisure program and give resources to develop program for seniors. This study searched 2 cases to give some suggestions for managing Korean senior leisure program. For the purpose of this study, this study revealed the leisure circumstance of Korean senior. And it analysed Elderhostel programs in USA and Japan. Based on the analysis of these programs, this study investigate what Elderhostel were doing in USA and Japan for the senior. The result of this study found that the paradigm of senior leisure program in Korea had to shift. And their programs tried to fulfill from their needs to better life or self satisfaction of their life. Also, they did not consider seniors as dependent object. And in case of Elderhostel of Japan, they did not introduce the same program of U.S. Elderhostel. They modified programs and managed it, taking their national trait and circumstance into consideration. According to these investigations, this study proposed some advice for the establishment of Elderhostel in Korea, especially in operation, activity program and promotion.
