A study on the Factors Affecting Casino Employee's Burnout and Organizational Effectiveness

The purpose of this study was to investigate the structural model of relationship between the casino employee’s work environment, job characteristics considering individual characteristics, social support and the factors affecting the casino employee's burnout and organizational effectiveness in order to find some implications for the human resources management and internal marketing in casino. To achieve the aim of the study, the theoretical research and the empirical study were carried out side by side. For the verification of hypotheses and research model, AMOS 4.0 program was used to conduct a confirmatory factor analysis and the path coefficient analysis to assess a goodness-of-fit for each causal model. There were four important findings in this study. First, among the casino employee’s job characteristics, role conflict, role overload and job discretion had significant influence on all the elements of burnout. Second, only the self-efficacy affected the emotional burnout and depersonalization among the internal characteristics of casino employees. Third, out of the social support for employees, support of colleagues and senior officials had effects on all the factors of burnout. Four, emotional burnout affected organizational commitment while depersonalization and decrease of individual achievement influenced job satisfaction, organizational commitment and turnover intentions respectively.
