The purpose of this study was to investigate, theorize, and conduct empirical analysis on the factors that affect airline employees’ job insecurity and the effects such insecurity have on the employees’making a turnover decision, and ultimately to determine the manners in which the job insecurity may be reduced for more positive outcomes for the employees in the airline industry’s restructuring processes. The empirical analysis revealed the following: (a) as hypothesized, antecedents including personal characteristics such as economic dependency, group characteristics such as organizational transition, and environmental characteristics such as increasing temporary posts and prevailing layoffs were found to affect job insecurity; and (b) the higher the employees’ job insecurity was, the more frequent their turnover decision-making became.
