There had been many Korean University students as a backpacking tourist who traveled overseas especially to Europe before financial crisis in 1977. However the number of university backpackers has been drastically decreased since 1977 because of financial crisis in Korea. As Korean economy is recovering from depression, university backpackers are also increasing these days. In response of such trend, package tour sales of backpackers are also booming in Korea again. However there are some problems concerning behavior of Korean university backpackers and organizing backpacking tour programs. Firstly, Korean university backpackers usually do travel without prior knowledge of destination. Secondly, tour operators organize backpacking package tours without investigation of backpackers' needs. The purpose of this paper is to give database how Korean university backpackers behave when they travel overseas. So Korean tour operators can properly organize backpacking package tour programs based on this research.
