Although Dasan was a practical Confucian scholar based in Confucian ideology, his meeting with Buddhist monks contributed as a lead in the Buddhist Saji(temple history) publication. He organized Dashingye having a relationship with them as a master and pupil and maintained the relationship after his release from exile. Dasan enjoyed drinking tea during his exile due to its medicinal effect and made Jeungchongttukcha(steamed cake-shaped tea) by Samjeungsamswe(steaming and parching three times) and Gujeunggupo(steaming and drying nine times). His tea-making method was passed on to monks in Daedunsa Temple, and the tea they made spread over the Sadaebu of late Joseon Period.
