An Analysis on Research Trends in Korean Tea Culture: Focusing on papers

This study aimed to identify the research trends in Korean tea culture based on master’s theses (638 papers) and doctors’ theses (124 papers), have an outlook on the direction of future researches, make an empirical analysis of the contents, and draw suggestions. The analysis period is from 1971 till Sept. 2018 and the research method is to collect bibliographic data with content analysis method. As detailed research tasks, we conducted frequency analysis of tea culture researches, classified major research fields into literature review, case study/analyses, and R&D and then made an analysis by year, country, and research method. It was seen that tea culture study has grown in the direction of accepting the benefits of its cultural and artistic aspects as both have been gradually emphasized after it reached the stage that it began to be studied as academic subject. It was also found that the breadth of the study has diversified as the papers published in Korea have not only been published in the area of tea culture study but also published in related academic societies of other studies, but on the other hand, Korean tea culture study has not provided the basic academic infrastructure and framework for the research system.
