Pottery is favored by many people, but long-term use can lead to defects or cracks. In addition, pottery is premised on kiln firing, so it is very difficult to repair and restore the appearance and function of the damaged object. Kintsugi, a traditional Japanese repair technique in which pottery is reattached with lacquer and the joints are decorated with gold, silver, and red, is a completely different act from simple repair or restoration. Among the various techniques for repairing ceramics, this study introduces the Kintsugi technique of 'repairing' broken ceramics using lacquer. I hope it will help you understand the aesthetics of tea tools through an artistic approach away from the level of simple 'repair'.
