  • 11

From the end of Goryeo Dynasty to the early Joseon Dynasty, the new high government officials enjoyed and brought up the tea culture that had blossomed in Goryeo dynasty. The direction of their lives were different from worthy retainers for the calling of the era of the founding Joseon dynasty to those who kept their loyalty for the old dynasty. However, they made good use of utility of cultural drinks by combining tea and wine and expressed their spirits well through poetry. It can be confirmed that in their poetry, they wisely enjoyed tea and wine harmonizing tea culture and wine culture together. Won-Cheonsuk and Gil-Jae who contributed largely to tea culture in the early Joseon dynasty and their scholarship successors like Soeng-Suklin, Gwon-Geun, Lee-Won, Byun-Gyeryang, Yoo-Bangseon, Soe-Goejung, Kim-Siseup and Kim-Jongjik with his disciples played a pivotal role in forming the tea culture of the early Joseon Dynasty.
