I would like to review the tea import regulations of the United States which has been the largest export market for Korean tea products during the past 10 years. In order to increase Korean tea products export, it is essential to produce higher quality products firstly. However, even those well made products would be returned or disposed of, if they do not comply with the standards and regulations required by importing countries. Especially in the case of food, the regulations are difficult and complicated, so even professional exporters sometimes make mistakes or do not know the details of those regulations. Since the US Food Safety Modernization Act(FSMA), which was enacted in 2011, will be in full force after 2020, regulations regarding safety management and labeling have been strengthened. In this paper, I will consider the strengthened Labeling regulations and Customs Procedure with the main focus on HS code 0902 and prepare for the future of Korean tea exports to the US market.
