24 Sets of Seasons Font Design

The design is an innovative attempt to break the cocoon of thousands of years of complicated Chinese character formation and writing system. The “24 Sets of Seasons Font Design” attempts to continue to enrich the already seemingly “unaccumulative” Chinese character creation system from other perspectives, and to find a new way to “simplify” the complexity. We chose the world's intangible cultural heritage, the 24 solar terms, which are representative of the Eastern civilization, as the object of our design, and used 24 phrases consisting of two Chinese characters as the design content. The primitive symbols represented by oracle bone inscriptions are used as materials, and the contents of astronomy, calendar, astrology, religion, nature, agriculture and culture are integrated, so as to combine the astronomical movements, climatic characteristics, human activities, and humanistic connotations of the occurrence of each solar term, and display them correspondingly, and then carry out the redesign of the visual art, forming a word-making method that comprehensively integrates the laws of nature, humanities, and aesthetics. method. While searching for traditional and innovative methods, we explore the concept of “design that promotes harmony between the environment and human beings”.
