An Exploration of a Multimodal Teaching Model Based on the OBE Concept for Spanish Writing Courses

An Exploration of a Multimodal Teaching Model Based on the OBE Concept for Spanish Writing Courses

OBE, Outcome-Based Education, is a widely used teaching concept at the current higher education. Multimodal teaching is to combine different sensory perceptions by integrating textual, visual, audio, and interactive elements to effectively enhance students' motivation, learning engagement, and stimulate more interest in learning. OBE is highly inclusive and can be combined with other concepts and various forms of teaching and learning, including multimodal teaching. This paper discusses a multimodal teaching model in a Spanish writing course based on the OBE concept. Under the OBE framework, the teaching goals are clarified, the content is reverse-designed, and multimodality is integrated into the course design, which is student-centered and supports personalized learning paths to meet the learning needs of different students. This model helps to improve students' Spanish writing ability, cultivate their innovative thinking and cross-cultural communication skills, and also helps them to tell the Chinese story. With the advancement of technology and the innovation of educational methods, multimodal teaching can have wider applications in foreign language teaching.
